In the summer of 2001, a few students saw a need in their community of Timmins, Ontario that was not being fulfilled, and took it upon themselves to meet this need. The need was great - there were a number of college-aged students scattered throughout the City's various churches, but no "official" group to bring them together and provide an avenue for growth and fellowship with other people their age. Thus, an interdenominational group was formed, gathering together students from many different church backgrounds, but with the same love for Christ and desire to follow Him. Their time together would be dedicated to seeking and worshipping God through prayer, music, fellowship, and Bible study. The group began with only three members, but now has grown to over 20! The official name is College and Careers, but many of us think of it more as home.

Every Wednesday evening, you can find us meeting at First Baptist Church, in Timmins, Ontario. We are a student-led group, and despite people coming and going, God has always provided leaders for us to persistently continue on. The past few years have been spent extending godly friendship and encouragement to each other, learning to respect and appreciate our theological differences and similarities, and thriving in unity and oneness. We believe that College and Careers not only benefits us, but by the growth we gain through meeting together, we are able to more effectively and passionately give back to our own local churches. Many of the students attending College and Careers can be found connecting with ministries initiated by their own churches - both as active participants and strong leaders. God has given us this group so that we can give to others.
